Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Logistics & Fleet Manager to oversee day-to-day management of our fleet of 10 trucks. The role involves end-to-end trip planning, driver supervision, fuel/mileage tracking, vehicle maintenance scheduling, statutory document compliance, and GPS monitoring.
The ideal candidate should be process-oriented, tech-savvy with GPS and Excel, and capable of establishing and tracking performance KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fleet & Driver Management
- Assign and dispatch trucks based on daily delivery and pickup requirements.
- Supervise and coordinate with drivers to ensure schedule adherence and safe operations.
- Maintain driver rosters, leave records, and ensure discipline and safety protocols.
- Monitor driver behavior, route deviations, and trip time using GPS.
2. Trip Planning & Execution
- Plan optimal trips based on load, route, delivery windows, and backhaul opportunities.
- Maintain trip logs and monitor vehicle turnaround times.
- Record trip performance: distance, duration, fuel used, and delivery efficiency.
3. Maintenance & Upkeep
- Schedule and track preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Maintain records of servicing, spares, tyres, and repairs.
- Coordinate with garages/workshops and ensure cost control.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure all vehicles have up-to-date documents: RC, insurance, fitness, permits, road tax, PUC.
- Prepare and maintain records for audits or inspections.
- Maintain licenses and renewal calendar.
5. Fuel & Mileage Monitoring
- Monitor daily/weekly fuel consumption vs mileage (km/l) using GPS and driver logs.
- Investigate abnormal consumption and take corrective actions.
- Maintain fuel issue registers and vendor bills.
6. GPS Monitoring & Reporting
- Actively use GPS system for live monitoring, alerts, route history, idling time, overspeeding.
- Download and analyze GPS data for operational insights.
- Generate route performance and exception reports.
7. MIS & KPI Reporting
- Create and maintain dashboards for:
- Trips per truck per week
- Km per liter
- Downtime per truck
- Maintenance cost per km
- Driver-wise performance
- Prepare weekly and monthly logistics performance reports.
Key Requirements
- Graduate or Diploma holder (logistics, operations, mechanical, or similar).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in managing a small-to-mid-sized fleet.
- Strong knowledge of statutory vehicle compliance in India.
- Hands-on experience with GPS tracking software and Excel-based reporting.
- Ability to manage drivers and vendors effectively.
Preferred Skills
- Basic technical understanding of truck mechanics.
- Working knowledge of transport economics (freight, fuel, tyre life, etc.)
- Exposure to fleet management systems or ERP.
- Good communication in Hindi, English, and local language.
