Job Summary
We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable QA Head to lead the Quality Assurance function at our flour milling facility. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in implementing, maintaining, and auditing food safety and quality systems such as FSSC 22000 and HACCP. This role will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, managing audits, building a quality-driven culture, and serving as the interface between the company and customer QA teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Systems & Compliance
- Lead the implementation and ongoing maintenance of FSSC 22000, HACCP, and related food safety systems
- Ensure full compliance with FSSAI, legal, and statutory quality and food safety regulations
- Develop, update, and manage the Food Safety Manual, SOPs, and required documentation
- Conduct internal audits and ensure timely closure of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
- Organize Management Review Meetings and drive continuous improvement initiatives
2. Audits & Certifications
- Independently manage third-party certification audits (FSSC, ISO 22000, HACCP)
- Prepare for and face customer audits; ensure timely documentation and closure of non-conformities
- Maintain audit readiness across the plant and promote a quality-first culture
3. Customer Coordination
- Serve as the main point of contact for customer QA teams for technical issues and documentation
- Share Certificates of Analysis (COAs), product specifications, and traceability data as required
- Manage and host plant visits, product evaluations, and on-site quality audits by key customers
4. Team & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Train cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, Stores, HR) in GMP, GHP, and food safety practices
- Build and supervise a small QA/QC team to monitor daily compliance and testing
- Ensure hygiene, sanitation, pest control, and allergen management protocols are implemented and followed
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain and update all master documents, lab logs, traceability records, and control sheets
- Analyze quality KPIs, audit findings, complaints, and deviations for trend reporting
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports for management review and continuous improvement
Key Requirements
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Food Technology, Microbiology, or a relevant scientific discipline
- 3–5 years of QA/QC experience in a food processing or FMCG environment (flour milling/bakery industry preferred)
- Hands-on experience in implementing and managing FSSC 22000 and HACCP systems
- Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills
- Ability to independently face and close statutory and third-party audits
Preferred Skills
- Internal Auditor Certification for FSSC / ISO 22000
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), Pest Control, and Allergen Management
- Proficient in MS Excel, document management systems, and root cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, etc.)
